This release makes it possible to use a 3rd-party email client on iOS and iPadOS when sending emails from the LionsBase mobile application. You can activate this option in the application settings.

What’s New

It was reported that LionsBase mobile application would not honor the user setting to use a 3rd-party email client. This is due to a limitation in the underlying MAUI framework that relies on the default email client on iOS when sending emails.

Fortunately we found a workaround that allows us to use the 3rd-party email client and thus honor the user setting.

Since we prefer however to rely on the framework as much as possible, we have added a setting in the LionsBase mobile application to allow the user to choose between the default email client and enabling a (small) workaround that will respect the user setting. Although not a problem, we recommend to enable this workaround only if you are using a 3rd-party email client such as the Microsoft Outlook email client on iOS and/or iPadOS:

Settings

And for those of you not aware that you may change the default email client, browser and a few more applications on iOS and iPadOS, here is how to do it:

  1. Go to Settings ‣ Apps ‣ Default Apps.

    iOS Default Apps
  2. Tap any of the following:

    • Email: To change the default app for sending and receiving email.

    • Messaging: To change the default app for sending and receiving messages.

    • Calling: To change the default app for making and receiving calls.

    • Call Filtering: To turn on or off call blocking and identification options. (See Turn on Call Identification).

    • Browser App: To change the default app to open links on the web.

    • Passwords & Codes: This section allows you to turn on or off AutoFill Passwords and Passkeys for apps and websites, and password, passkey, and code-generation and verification apps.

    • Keyboards: To add or delete keyboards and third-party keyboard apps.

  3. Select the app you want to use as the default.

Other Changes

In addition, a few bugs have been squashed and minor enhancements integrated:

  • various internal libraries have been upgraded.

Footnotes

1

Apple Vision Pro App Store Connect from Apple Inc. explains that compatible iOS apps are automatically published on the App Store on Apple Vision Pro unless we explicitly opt out. We have not opted out and therefore the LionsBase mobile application is available on Apple Vision Pro, although we did not have the opportunity so far to test it. Do not hesitate to drop us a message if you have tested it; we would be happy to hear from you!
